ZOPO Speed 7 vs Meizu MX5 – Buy Two Speed 7 For The Price Of One Meizu
ZOPO’s Speed 7 has been released in the summer, and so has Meizu’s MX5. Both are extremely competent, well built and affordable powerful smartphones that would certainly make for the perfect holiday surprise gift, for your friend, or yourself. But one might represent better value for money than the other. Let’s find out which one, and why. First off, a rundown of technical specifications for the Speed 7 and Meizu MX5:
Meizu MX5
The first impression anyone has of a smartphone, it’s the external design. Let’s get one thing out of the way: the Meizu MX5 looks like an iPhone. It doesn’t really matter how you try to spin it otherwise, but the design is a virtual rip-off from Apple’s school of design. That might work for those who like to pretend to be as cool as the sheriff in town, but at ZOPO we believe that having a unique look and personality is the least a brand can do to prove itself in the fierce market we have today.
ZOPO Speed 7 has a unique and elegant design. Subtle and sophisticated, in a way that will make people notice it when you’re holding it, but for the right reasons.
If we had to be clear about the lack of design inspiration exhibited by the Meizu MX5, we won’t try to hide the fact that the Speed 7 slightly lacks in comparison with the MX5 when it comes down to pure performance specifications. Both devices are fairly similar, with octa-core processors, 3GB of RAM and HD displays. However the MX5 takes the upper hand with its AMOLED screen, beefier CPU and GPU, and a better rear camera.
For most casual users these technical differences will barely have any practical implication, and both devices are more that able to run any and every currently available app or game you can throw at them. Yet, the Speed 7 supports microSD cards to expand its storage room up to 64GB (plus the internal 16GB), which lead us to the main difference between the Speed 7 and MX5…
The ZOPO Speed 7 costs $199 with 16GB of storage. The Meizu MX5 starting price is $339 for the 16GB, and goes up to $459 for the 64GB model. The Meizu MX5 does not support microSD cards to expand its storage capacity, while the Speed 7 does support. So, if you happen to already own a 64GB microSD and buy a Speed 7, you will be getting a $199 smartphone with 80GB of storage memory! That’s $259 less from what the 64GB MX5 costs. Meaning, for the price of a 64GB MX5 ($459) you can buy 2 (TWO!) Speed 7 and still save almost $60!
